Escape to the Hills

Walking Retreat – Lake District 2026

Step away from the noise of everyday life and immerse yourself in three restorative days nestled in a quiet corner of the Lake District.

This intimate walking retreat (limited to 6–8 women) blends breathtaking fell walks, luxury accommodation, and the calming practice of mindfulness in nature. Together, we’ll explore some of the Lake District's best fell walks, pause to reconnect with ourselves, and share meaningful conversation in a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space.

Your Setting

We’ll be based just a stone’s throw from Ullswater, staying in a beautiful luxury farmhouse tucked into a peaceful corner of the Lakes. With sweeping valley views and walking routes directly from the doorstep, it’s the perfect base for rest, reflection, and adventure.

You’ll have the entire property exclusively for our group.

  • Private king-size bedroom for every guest

  • All rooms with private or en-suite bathrooms

One twin room available to share at a reduced rate (subject to availability)

Day 1

2pm: 2 hour lake-side walk on arrival.

4pm: Welcome and access to accommodation.

Dinner: Eat in - (Pre-ordered premium meals from ‘Cook’ / M&S or similar quality will be provided and prepared).

The main walk: Get a little closer to heaven on one of my favourite Lake District hikes. Topping out on Place Fell (657m high), we walk an 8 mile circular high above Ullswater. It is a moderate fell walk, with around 5 hours of walking, but we will take our time and soak in every wonderful moment. The terrain is mostly on mountain paths, but is sometimes a little rocky. While we are high up, there is no imminent exposure. Please discuss with me if you have any concerns about fitness or ability.
The walk will incorporate Mindfulness in Nature and you will have the opportunity to talk with me whilst walking.

Stretch and relaxation session.

Dinner: Eat in (Pre-ordered meals as per Night 1).

Day 3

Self-serve Continental Breakfast and Packed Lunch (pre-ordered) provided.

2-hour walk up Hallin Fell with incredible views of Ullswater and an ideal opportunity for Mindfulness in Nature.

Extra 30 mins individual counselling sessions available if required (pre-booked day before).

The rest of the day is free for you to rest or explore. There is a ferry which calls at the Howtown Pier which goes to Aira Force, Glenridding (more pubs, shops, restaurants) and Pooley Bridge. (Not included in the price.) The ferry pier is a 15 – 20 minute walk from Hause Hall Farm.

You are free to eat out wherever you choose in the evening. Pooley Bridge has plenty of choice for eating oout, and is a 15 min drive away.

Day 4

Check out by 10am and travel home.

Passion for the outdoors

I have a passion for nature and the outdoors, and these can be so beneficial for our mental health, especially when combined with mindfulness and movement.

I have worked and played in the outdoors all my life, and was Deputy Editor of the mountain and hillwalking magazine, TRAIL for 8 years. For me there is no tonic like getting out into the hills. With 20+ years experience of hiking, and navigation / first aid qualifications I am keen to share the healing power of the great outdoors with like-minded clients too.
