Counselling unique to you

I provide individual counselling and psychotherapy for a wide range of issues, including:
Anxiety •
Trauma •
Stress / burnout •
Grief •
Low self-esteem •
Relationship difficulties •

But you don’t need to be struggling with your mental health to benefit from counselling. Many people come simply to understand themselves better, improve relationships, or navigate life’s transitions – personally or professionally.

Therapy takes place in my bespoke Counselling Studio in Werrington, Peterborough or on Walk & Talk sessions.

Before becoming a counsellor, I spent eight years as a police detective supporting people through trauma, abuse and crisis. Those experiences continue to shape the compassionate, grounded way I work today.

What will it involve?

At the heart of my counselling approach is a safe, confidential, and trusting relationship – one where you can speak openly and explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgement.

From this foundation, we begin a journey together. We’ll explore what’s going on for you, uncover patterns or challenges, and find ways forward that feel right for your life. No two people are the same, and your counselling experience will be shaped entirely around you.

Not everyone wants to sit in a counselling room. I am a great believer in the healing power of walking in nature. Many people find it easier to open up while walking side by side in nature. That's why I also offer Walk & Talk Therapy, as well as group wellbeing walks. Learn More

“You are the most brilliant listener, with such a deep compassion and concern for others it really shines through. I appreciate that you are doing a lot of work to make sure you are the best counsellor you can be and it makes me for one feel like I am in a pair of safe hands. You really have a gift for helping others.”

Chris D.

“I found it super easy to talk to you and you have a natural warmth and ability to make someone feel comfortable. Thank you so much for listening to me. It really helped me come to some resolutions about what I need to do next and you provided an environment which made it feel safe, so thank you.”

TESTIMONIALS
Pat W.

“In all honesty I was dubious about counselling because I thought firstly there was too much going on in my mind – no one would be able to work through that, and secondly it was all too complicated and didn’t really make any sense. But thankfully, I met you and you none of that was the case! It was the first time I felt heard and like what I had to say was actually valid.”

Neil F.

“You've honestly changed my life Jenna. I feel able to cope with my anxieties in a way I honestly didn't ever think was possible. I am now able to rationalise my thoughts and put into practice all the strategies we worked on. I can't thank you enough.”

David S.

“You have been such an amazing support to me over the last few weeks. I will never be able to thank you enough for your kindness and understanding… Whenever I am low I will think of you and your calming voice and beautiful smile and try very hard to be positive and love myself.”

Toby R.

“I achieved what I wanted and so much more! I have always found it very difficult to talk about my feelings as I always thought that would give them too much significance and make them too real. But I've since understood that it's by talking about them that takes away their significance and makes me able to think more rationally. I honestly never thought I would get to the stage where I felt I could cope with some of things happening, but I do feel in control now.

Sian B.

Jenna was incredible! She was so thoughtful and understanding. She listened on the sessions where I just needed to talk and offered thoughtful suggestions when I felt I needed support on how to move forward. She always asked what I wanted to achieve, how i wanted to move forward and gave me time to reevaluate and set goals which was so helpful."

Julia R.

"I feel very fortunate to have found Jenna after trying several other therapists. From early on, she created a space that felt safe, grounded, and easy to open up in. Over the past year, she’s helped me work through trauma and some deep-rooted patterns around shame and self-belief, leading to meaningful breakthroughs. Her patience, presence, and compassion really stayed consistent in truly challenging times for me. I leave our work with more clarity, a better understanding of myself, and feeling stronger emotionally going forward." 2025-2026

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens during my first counselling session?

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We'll talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you're hoping to gain from therapy and any questions you may have. There is no pressure to share everything straight away, we'll work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. But most people come away from their first session with a sense of renewed understanding, relief and direction.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No. You can contact me directly to arrange an appointment. Many people choose to access counselling privately without speaking to their GP first.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

There is no set number of sessions. Some people find that 6–8 sessions meet their needs, while others benefit from longer-term therapy. We'll regularly review how things are progressing, and together decide what feels right for you. You are always in control of how many sessions you have.

What happens when I arrive?

Please arrive just a few minutes before your appointment and park outside. There is plenty of free on-road parking. I'll come and greet you before we begin. Sessions take place in my private counselling studio and last for one hour.

Do you offer online or Walk & Talk counselling?

Yes. Alongside face-to-face counselling in my Werrington studio, I also offer online sessions and Walk & Talk Therapy for those who feel more comfortable talking while outdoors. We can discuss which approach is likely to suit you best.

Is everything I tell you confidential?

Yes. Everything we discuss is confidential, with a small number of legal and ethical exceptions relating to safety, which I'll explain fully before we begin working together.

How much does counselling cost?

Your first counselling session is £60. Ongoing sessions are £60 for regular weekly or fortnightly one-hour sessions; £65 for ad hoc sessions.

How often should I have counselling?

Weekly or fortnightly sessions are usually recommended to begin with, as they help build momentum and provide consistency. As therapy progresses, some people choose to move to fortnightly appointments. Ultimately, we'll work together to find a frequency that feels right for you.

What if I've never had counselling before?

Many of my clients are attending counselling for the very first time. It's completely normal to feel nervous or unsure about what to expect. My aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to talk at your own pace.

How do I book an appointment?

The easiest way is to get in touch via my contact form, email or WhatsApp. I also offer a free 15-minute telephone or video-call consultation if you'd like to ask any questions before booking your first session.

How do I know if you're the right counsellor for me?

Finding the right counsellor is a personal decision. Feeling comfortable, listened to and understood is one of the most important parts of therapy. That's why I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation, giving you the opportunity to ask questions, find out more about how I work and decide whether I feel like the right fit for you.
